Having met the conditions for his bail, 41-year-old Joachim Iroko who was charged in Ogun state for allegedly naming and inscribing ‘Buhari’ on his pet dog, has been released from prison.

The 41-year-old trader faces a one-count charge of intention to cause breach of public peace.

Premium Times reports that he was arraigned before Bolaji Ojikutu of Sango-Otta Magistrate’s Court on Monday morning and was subsequently granted a N50,000 bail.He was transferred to prisons while his family sought money for his released.

Mr. Iroko met his bail conditions yesterday after receiving about N90,000 through fundraising appeal coordinated by a human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong.

He was released around noon on Thursday, August 25,  and he went straight to his residence in Sango-Otta, Ogun state.

Mr Iroko was first arrested on August 14 after police received complaints from a neighbour, Halilu Umar, that he had named his dog ‘Buhari’ in an apparent attempt to ridicule his father, whose name is ‘Alhaji Buhari’.

The matter had generated huge interest across Nigeria and sparked debates about free speech.

Joe Chinakwe, spent three days in prison in Ogun state as his family was unable to meet the bail conditions granted to him, the Vanguard reports.

The man was granted the bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum by an Ogun state magistrate court for naming his pet dog ‘Buhari’. Family sources told reporters that they were able to raise only N20, 000, but could not complete the whole sum.

Authorities in  Spain  are hunting for armed robbers who broke into the home of Chelsea striker  Alvaro Morata  while his wife and children were inside. According to Daily Mail, the burglars struck on Friday night as the 26-year-old who is on loan at  Atletico Madrid  was in the  Faroe Islands  for Spain's Euro 2020 qualifier. Police sources said they believe the armed intruders may have gotten into the property in the exclusive neighbourhood of  La Moraleja north  of  Madrid  via an upstairs window. During the quick operation, Morata's Italian wife  Alice Campello  and their twin sons  Alessandro  and  Leonardo , one next month, were inside along with a nanny but none were harmed. The burglars are believed to have taken a number of valuables during their quick raid, which happened around 11pm on Friday.
